An abundance of mail.....

Yesterday was a super mail day!!! Yea for me!!! and boy did I need the pick me up that it brought!!!!! First lets start off with the wonderful exchange I received from Gaby - it was the Prairie Schooler exchange from over at HOE. You all know what a fan of them I am of PS so of course I joined the exchange!! Here is a snap of the entire exchange -

and here is a close up of the Pyn Keepe that Gaby made -

Isn't it just gorgeous - a beautiful bird and berries - is it a lark? I just love birds and this is a stunner!! The linen is so pretty also - all splotchy like I like - it's a winner!! The package included a beautiful chart, some yummy gummie vampires (you know I love those chewy gummi things!!) and a great wooden spoon - I collect wooden spoons when I travel so this will go in the collection - such a thoughtful package - Thank you so much Gaby!!!!

I also got a couple of charts I had ordered -

"Fruit of the Spirit" I had seen on Vonna's blog and had to have and a Christmas booklet from Heartstrung Primitives - the booklet is called "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" I have some ornament exchanges coming up and this is perfect for a couple of those.

Over the weekend I saw quite a few movies so lets talk about them - "Letter From an Unknown Woman" - 1948 - unavailable in this country - I borrowed a friends copy he got from Korea - This gorgeous movie has in the lead rolls Joan Fontaine and Louis Jordan - who are both superb!! This is a wonderful movie and I would highly recommend it - so if you ever get the chance try and see it!! This same friend has a gazillon dollar recording and TV setup with giant flat screen and multiple devices for making DVD's from film and cable. I borrowed a couple of films I had seen before from the Asian movies TCM played a couple of months ago. "The Bitter Tea of General Yen" - 1933 and "Shanghai Express" - 1932 - both really great movies with Express being the better of the two - The other two movies were - "Gamboling Lady" - 1934 with Babara Stanwyck and Joel McCrea excellent film with the copy I had not being the best for sound - followed up by "Man Wanted" - 1932 a pre-code Kay Francis film that is just wonderful!! I also wanted to mention another film - a short film only 30 mins but just great - from a short story by Max Lucado called "The Book and the Rose" - 2001 - a low budget but well made flick that I watched twice and then watched the directors commentary - If you get the chance make the effort to see this film!! I love this quote from the film....

-"Tell me who you love, and I will tell you who you are."-

I did want to mention that I totally agree with Rowyn's comment from yesterday about rugs and carpet!!! If I could I would be down on my hands and knees a with bare hands and teeth rip out the carpet from my house - and put in wood floors!! But, I rent so I suffer!!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Take care,

Hallowe'en is upon us!! Exchanges and costumes...

I have heard that the HOE Halloween exchange arrived at Margaret's and she is pleased!! I am so happy as I really did enjoy stitching up both Halloween exchanges!! I almost didn't join the Halloween exchanges thinking that I couldn't come up with something.....
but it all worked out in the end! Here is a snap pf the exchange that I sent -

The other exchange has not arrived....but as soon as I hear that it does I will post a snap!

We also went a little crazy over the weekend a Target - could they have any more decorations and costumes!!! We got a costume and a couple of wigs for the hounds and here are some snaps -

Pete-saurus Rex

and the ferocious - Peach-o-dactile

They really enjoyed wearing that thing - can't you tell! Hunny high tailed it upstairs and would only try on the pink wig (no snap yet) - we did get the blond wig on the Peach but she wouldn't still long enough to make her Veronica Lake look-a-like pose - so no snap of that one either, yet!! Stay tuned!

I did a bunch of secret stitching so no snaps of that - I was also really busy with the new rug shampoo machine we got on Friday evening - it is just amazing what filth the carpet holds - and how much dirt can be pulled out with just a couple of swipes of a cleaner, such fun I tell ya!

I am working on the SBBC for 2009 and will have out all the partner info by the end of the week - or at least that is the plan! I am waiting for some return emails so that when I send out the info as complete as I can get.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you all for the response to the Birthday give-a-way!!
Only 4 more days to sign up!!

Take care!!!!

Hobbit Styled Gift-a-way, and some exchanges arrive....

As my Birthday draws near I am wanting to do something special.... remember a while back - a week or so - I wrote about a Fall Drawing - well here it is!! I am doing a Hobbit Styled Birthday Gift-a-way - not in the true Hobbit since - I just can't stitch that much stuff - but I am going to put together a gift for some lucky winner out there in Blogland. How it works in the LOTR books is on a Hobbits birthday at the party all the guests get gifts - How this Gift-a-way will work is that if you would like to receive a gift from me for my birthday just leave a comment with this entry and on my birthday - next Saturday - October 4th - I will draw a name to win the Gift-a-way - how easy is that!! I am turning 45 (I just can't believe that either) - the drawing will close on next Friday, October 3, 2008 at 3pm - PST so just comment here before then. I will announce the winner on Monday - October 6th and will have the Birthday Present in the mail on the 7th - I am unusually organized lately - and it really scares me!! :)

Now on to the arriving exchanges - I know recently I have been madly working away at exchanges with no snaps here - now - I can post them ...

Lets start off with Lillie over at Lil' Needlecrafter in Malaysia - she was my partner in the HOE Prairie Schooler Exchange and I stitched her a PynKeepe - here is a snap of the exchange -

The design is from the PS Weather Wise chart - using the recommended DMC floss.

The next exchange to arrive was to Carol over at Garden of Stitches - it was for the Fall House Exchange with the SBEBB - I have stitched for Carol a few times this year and she is so easy to stitch for as both of us like the same things - stitch wise!! I stiched up a decorative Roll and here is a snap of the exchange -

The design is from PS chart Autumn Leaves and I knew it was perfect with the kitty on it!!

Also to arrive was the ornament for Vonna over at Twisted Stitcher for the Ornament Exchange. Here is a snap of the piece -

The pattern is from the PS chart Santa Rides - and I just love it and so does Vonna - it was a toss up between the Santa on the Deer and the Santa on the horse....
he finished up very nice - now I am making one for our tree!!

There you go .... some of the exchanges I sent out recently - all from Prairie Schooler -
I just love those charts!!!!

Last night was VoHRH and here is a progress snap -

Almost there with this square - then it is on to the Mill.

I just can not leave off this week without a comment about Grey's Anatomy... the first show of the season was last night with a 2 hour special.... pretty good overall - but is it going to be another year of waffling back and forth between those two and a ton a whining!!! I do not think I can take it for the whole season..... but we will give it a chance.

Thank you all for stopping by and for all the great comments!!!!
I do appreciate them!!

Have a great weekend - Take care,
edgar

It's Thursday....

.....and you would think by this time in the week I would be able to get it together!!! I am so far behind in blog reading that it just isn't funny! I got a chance this morning to see whats up over at the Ornament swap and a ton has been going on - Vonna has gotten some gorgeous ornaments!!! What a talented group of stitchers those ladies are - I hope when mine arrives it can stand the test!! I totally loved the ornie I made for sweet Vonna so much that I am making me one just like it! Last night in the realm of stitching I worked on AND finished the MAW for Gabby - so that it CAN leave today - I really think it is cute and hope that she likes it when it arrives - in the next week or so. I also worked on the VoHRH some and here is a snap of the progress -

The mail yesterday was super as I received my Christmas Ornament issue and some stash
(like I needed more!!) Here is a snap -

You knew I was going to get that "Alphabet Zoo" - so when I was placing that order with Drema I thought I would also get the "Quakers and Quilts" as it was another one I HAD to have - this chart has quite a few extra bits in it and an extra chart I didn't realize was included is on the back cover - so you really get a ton with this chart!! The silk pile is me steadily stashing away the NPI for the Shores of HRH and I am getting very close to having them all... I think I am going to trot over to NIAH and check out the linen .... I also want to kit up "des Arbes" as I know I want to change the colors from the model...I need to be in front of the racks of floss to decide.

There you go - thanks for stopping by!!

Take care,
edgar

Hit and Run Post.....

A very short and very late post today. This morning I have been sending out the reminder emails for next months SBBC Partners - and October is the biggest Birthday Month of the year - and we all know why....... about 9 months ago there was a holiday called..... Valentines day..... a day that is very romantic!!!! Just a reminder that the SBBC for 2009 sign ups will close on this Friday, 9/26 - at 3pm PST. I am planning on working up the parings over the weekend and sending out the emails next week, that will give everyone enough time.

Last night I was working on the MAW - and will probably not make this Thursday's mail date - it will more that likely be pushed to next Tuesday.

Yesterday Rico got a copy of the "Sex in the City" - 2008 movie - and so that was the flick for the evening. We really enjoyed it and it was just like watching a very long show. if you liked the show then you will probably like the movie.
I know that there are lots of people that did not like it but we did!!

Thanks for stopping by...

PIF Participants, and that outgoing mail....

Well - we have some "winners" for the PIF's - I was really very touched that so many wanted to join my PIF and that the response's warranted a drawing of names - Thank you all so much!!! Once again I am very blessed with such nice folks reading this here blog! -

Setting the stage - In a secret a nameless cavern on the brink of an abyss with cauldron and elixir in hand a drawing was held that has no snaps .........woooo - hoooo - squeak..squeak.. squeak.. (sound effects for mystery)....... plus and the hound-a-liciousesss wouldn't sit still - they ran away from me - the paparazzi - so what am I to do??? The stitchers that are now in my web of PIF are:

Karen, Lisa and Deborah

Ladies my email is edgarmatt @ g mail . com (remove spaces) so please if you wouldn't mind contacting me with your details (as I'm unsure how to get hold of you to tell you that your name was drawn) so I have the lables ready when I've completed your PIF's.
I'll need your name and snail mail details.
Don't forget to post on your blogs the PIF details - you can stitch for as many as you like but a minimum of 2. Once again thank you all for your great interest!!

I am toting to the mail today a pile of stuff - The HOE Halloween Exchange, The SBEBB Fall House Exchange, The SBEBB Halloween Exchange, The Christmas Ornament Exchange, The Sampler Kit Lisa Won Yesterday and a Birthday present that should have gone out last week - I will look like some sort of camel dragging this stuff down Market Street, but I am glad to get it all out as some of it has quite a way to travel!!

Last night I only worked on Gabby's MAW exchange piece and am almost there still on track to have it in the mail on Thursday -
you see if I keep saying it will go out on Thursday it is bound to happen!!!

Once again dear friends - Thank you for stopping by!!!

The First BOD - Drawing of the Fall - and the Winner is.....

.......Lisa over at LisaV's Lounge - here are the secret behind the scenes of the ancient BOD ritual.................with the light slowly fading and the fog a'swirling over twin peaks..... the Chihuahua high priestess - Peaches - went into a trance -

and with a blink of the eye
- she daintily reached into the BOD and withdrew a slip of destiny -
and upon this scrap of delight was Lisa's name....

Who was the good girl, even though she was afraid of the camera..... and you just know she is thinking "Where's the damn cookie, I sat still now gimme that cooookie!!!!" (The Pete and Hunny were unavailable for photo's - which translates into they wouldn't sit still and kept running around..... not youe next ANTM material at all!!)

so - dear Lisa - just send your mailing address to edgarmatt @ g mail . com (remove spaces)
and I will get your prize in the mail. Thank you all who entered
- there will be other drawings here a BBotW in the near future!!!

I will be announcing the winners of the PIF in tomorrows Blog - so stay tuned for that.

This weekend I was busy stitching and finishing up the Christmas Ornie for dear Vonna - and that will go into the mail tomorrow. I also was finishing up the stitching on the MAW for Gabby and I hope to get that finished and in Thursdays mail - so I have no stitchy snaps from the weekend as both are to be surprises.

I saw some movies this weekend - I know you are surprised!! - starting off with "Moulin Rouge" - 1952 - about the life of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec - although a fictionalized bio-pic - as are most of them - I really enjoy this movie with each viewing - Jose Ferrrer does such a great job as Henri and he is supported by a wonderful cast - including Suzanne Flon, Katherine Kath and the beautiful Zsa Zsa Gabor. I think it was a bio pic weekend as I also watched the completely fictionalized life story of "Hans Christian Anderson" - 1952 - another musical staring Danny Kaye, who I always enjoy. A really fun if at sometime silly movie - with some gorgeous music. The next bio-pic was "The Benny Goodman Story" - 1956 starring Steve Allen and Donna Reed - a little flat in places but the music is superb and was actually played by Goodman for the movie. The DVD was not the best - but a nice flick all the same. Then last night I it was "Casablanca" - 1942 - one of my all time favorites with such a great cast - Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henried, Claude Rains - if you have not seen this film you really should!! There were a few other films but these were the highlights.

Thanks for stopping by and for all the really nice things everyone has to say,
I truly do appreciate the comments!!!!!

Take care,
edgar

I was a total lazy butt last night!!

And did not stitch a thing - nary a needle nor thread touched my callused claws.....
and I don't know why... well I do kinda know why
- after dinner I popped a movie in the DVDer - surprise -surprise!

The flick was "Madame. De..." - 1953 or as it is known here in America - "The Earrings of Madame De..." - such a gorgeous film - starring Charles Boyer and Danielle Darrieux
- set in the Paris of the late 19th Century -
the focus of the film is a Comtesse and a pair of diamond earrings -
"what the earrings signify, primarily, is the transformation and transfiguration of an initially frivolous and flirtatious society woman into a tragic victim of romantic rapture." Andrew Sarris

There you go - my evening - there was also an hour+ phone call from my sister - yakkity yak yak!!I will announce the winner of the "Antique Sampler Kit" on Monday and the PIF's on Tuesday - Thank you all for your support and interest!!

Not too much planned for this weekend - finishing up the MAW for Gaby and the Ornament Exchange for Vonna - I'll be a stitching fool both days!!

One more week to sign up for the SBBC-2209 -

Thanks for stopping by - have a great weekend!!

I'm a winner - !!!!!

Over at Su's Blog - she was doing a PIF - and I had never done one so I thought it was time to - since I have absolutely nothing else to occupy my time!! HA-HA-HA!! I have seen these PIF's often and thought what a super idea - so I tossed my name in the kitty and I was a winner and now you can be one also - PIF's are very easy - sooooooo

Do you want to join my PIF?

The rules are as follows: * If you would like to receive stitchy gift made by me within 365 days please leave comment on this post to say that you are interested, the first 3 people I draw the names for on Monday, September 22nd (Presuming I get more than 3 people interested that is) will be my PIF members* In return you post the same offer on your own blog. And the chain goes on... :) So easy and so fun -

I am sending out the first of my Fall exchanges today - it has quite a way to go - so it will probably take a week to get there - I will post a snap as soon as I know it has arrived.

On the stitchy front last night I was a'working on the MAW Exchange for Gaby - she wanted a Flat-Fold with a LHN-CCN design - I really like them so I jumped at this MAW - I will probably have this in the mail on Tuesday along with a couple of other exchanges. I always seem to mail things out so early - just a spaz I guess - since I am hyper sensitive to my being late I think this trait carries through my whole life. I know exactly where this comes from - growing up my parents as wonderful as they were to us where habitually late to everything!! Now the pendulum has swung the other way and I am habitually early to everything!! Go figure!

Thanks you all for the suggestions as to how to wrangle up my stash into a workable system - right now I sort of have it organized by designer and when that fails theme. My flosses I have either in Floss-a-way bags or on large floss rings by company.

The flicks last night were Netflix selections - short stories to be precise - I am a great lover of the short story - the stories last night where "The Revolt of Mother" - 1986 starring Amy Madigan - the original story was written by the wonderful 19th century author - Mary Wilkins Freeman - it is about a barn, a wife and some cows in rural New England. She is a wonderful author and I would highly recommend her stories. This production was good and I enjoyed it but the story is so much richer. The second selection was "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" -1980 - starring Geraldine Fitzgerald. The story is by Katherine Ann Porter - not the best version of a great story - pass on this adaptation and read the original!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Take care,
edgar

PS - ONLY - 8 more days until the SBBC-2009 sign ups close.

Just slap me now!!!!

Is it just me or are there just way too many things being released that need to be stitched up??? Now - Blue Ribbon Designs has released a couple of things recently and one in particular has really gotten my attention -

Alphabet Zoo

I really like this chart as it has three things I am really drawn to - an Alphabet, different animals, and it is monochromatic. You know I already have this on order, but when will I ever get to it - and - when it comes what colour should it be done with???? I like the dark colour the model is but wouldn't it look super in an over dyed silk??? Some dark grey or really dark grey/blue or dark grey/green!!!

With that said - my stash is beyond SABLE and moving on to LAOCS (Ludicrous Amounts of Crazy Stash) How does one organize a mountain of charts -
by theme, by designer, by colour, by size -
Gadzooks it is a quandary!!!!! How often can you use that word!! ;)

Last night I finished up the 4 exchanges and now I am ahead of the pile so what could I do - I signed up for another exchange!! Now - it will be sending them all out over the next week or so. I am really pleased with the way they all turned out and do hope the recipients like them also!

There you go - it's Wednesday and now the great slide to the weekend!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Exchange Finishing Marathon, and a Small Drawing...

Last night I was in the throws of an exchange finishing frenzy, which will continue tonight after visiting Britex for some extra doo-dads..... so there are no snaps of any stitchy things....

This weekend while digging around looking for something else I ran across a make it yourself sampler kit I got last year. I never got around to doing anything with it so here it sits, brand new never played with -

I thought to myself that someone might want to make a their own sampler - instead of gathering dust at my house I am going to have a "BOD" drawing. So - if you would like to have this kit just leave a comment in today's comment section, you can leave a comment up until 3pm on Friday. I will have the mystic all seeing, all dancing chihuahuas do that voodoo they do so well and have a winner on next Monday - 9/22/08. Here is a snap of the inside

The kit includes: 2 full color instruction books, 3 traditional sampler charts, a piece of 14ct Aida cloth, an adjustable embroidery hoop, a thimble, 7 floss colours and a size 26 needle.

Last night was super movie night on TCM with a triple line up of chick flicks- starting off with the original "The Women" - 1939 starring MGM Divas - Norma Shearer and Joan Crawford, then it was "Stage Door"- 1937 with RKO Divas - Katherine Hepburn and Ginger Rodgers - the evening ended - or I should say my evening ended with "Little Women" - 1933 again with Katherine Hepburn. Three super-dee-duper flicks!! I was in hog heaven!!!

Just a reminder that the I am still taking sign ups for the SBBC 2009 - until next Friday 9/26/08. Just send an email to - edgar matt @ g mail . com (take out the spaces).

Thanks for stopping by!!

Exchange received, RR round up and a couple of flicks

I got a lovely exchange from Nela - it arrived on Friday as I was leaving work and I opened up this great package when I got home. It was the Needle Roll exchange from over at HOE - included in the package were some beautiful ribbons for finishing, a sweet little vase and chocolate bar and a beautiful Needle Roll!!
Here is a snap of the entire exchange -

and here is a close up of the delicate 1/1 needle roll -

It is really pretty with two pins already poked into the top. Thank you so much for this really wonderful exchange - it is a great addition to my growing collection!!!

We seemed to run around all weekend so the only thing I seem to be able to get to was Cheryl's RR - and I got that finished and here is a snap of the whole piece -

I laid the piece across the back of the couch to use the daylight so it looks kind of wonky - but you get the idea - here is a snap of the upper right corner I worked -

I am really happy with the way it turned out - Now, I read that Donna has gotten her piece back and will be sending it on so that I can get at that last square. I can't wait!!!

There you go on the stitching front - I also worked a tiny bit on VoHRH -
but no snaps of that piece.

There were some movies also - a couple in particular I would like to mention - the first being - "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" - 2008 - what a super movie!!! Set on the eve of WWII in London - I would say run don't walk to rent a copy of this film - Frances McDormand is just great as Miss Pettigrew and Amy Adams does a super job as Delysia Lafosse - in supporting roles are Shirley Henderson (suburb as always!!) and Ciaran Hinds as Joe.
Absolutly try and see this film.....you will not be disappointed!! The second film I would like to mention is a real favorite of mine - "Trip to Bountiful" - 1985 - with who was probably one of the greatest actress' of the 20th century - Geraldine Page who has the lead as Carrie Watts. She is supported expertly by John Heard, Carlin Glynn and Rebecca de Mornay.
This is one of a handful of films that I could watch over and over - Miss Page won her only Best Actress Academy Award for this role.

That was the weekend in a nutshell!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Cheryl's RR Start, a movie and some glass...

I made a start on Cheryl's RR last night. It was a long time getting to me, and has been on the back burner a long time, but I have finally gotten to it. I have modified a pattern to fit in the square called Forest Snowfall and I think it will look great when finished. Here is a snap -

This picture just bites - as I had to lighten it up quite a bit. I am using the recommended floss'. The plan is to have this ready, along with the HOE Prairie Schooler Exchange, for mailing on Tuesday.

Last night the movie was "The Thief Lord" - 2006 - which was a mediocre production of a really great book by Cornelia Funke. I really enjoyed the book when I read it and didn't even know of a movie until just a short time ago. I had high hopes for this movie since Ms Funke's prose is so good I thought it would be an easy transition to film, boy was I mistaken. It was a well filmed but poorly acted film...with a couple of bright moments brought by Vanessa Redgrave in a cameo the piece was pretty dismal. Read the book skip the movie.

It is our final day of Chihuly snaps - so here we go -

The exhibit had two boats filled with all these glass shapes -

This was in the final exhibit the "Glass Garden" and was the main feature at one end.

This was in the very final room right before the "Glass Garden" and was the ceiling called "Persian Pieces" - it was really interesting to walk through and empty room with the only light being from above these glass pieces and filtered onto the patrons.

Another sensuous gorgeous double bowl piece.

Another week and here we are at the weekend!! Thanks for stopping by!

edgar

Mailing re-stitches, movies and glass...

I finished up on Carol's lovely green and grey piece last night and both hers and mine are boxed up for mailing to Rowyn this morning. Here is a snap of Carol's piece -

Now on to Cheryl's LHN RR piece - I have the chart and the floss pulled ready to go!

Last night there were a couple of movies - starting off with "Grey Gardens" - 1975 - starring those wonderful eccentrics Big and Little Edie Beale. This is a charming if unusual mother daughter pair living in a dilapidated mansion in East Hampton, NY. Shot and presented as a documentary of their day to day lives...... if you have not seen this you may want to give it a look. I have seen it a few times and always see something new each time I watch it. The second film was "Charles II: The Power and the Passion" - 2003 Starring Rufus Sewell as Charles II, Diana Rigg as Charles' mother Queen Henrietta Maria and Shirley Henderson as his wife Catherine of Braganza. This was a 3 hour spectacle the I really enjoyed.

Here are today's Chihuly snaps -

The re-stitch continues - and some more Chihuly...

I finished as much as I will on my QFFRR and will get it in the mail tomorrow to Rowyn. here is a snap of how it looks now...

So here is is - I have used - HDF- Raisin Wine and Old Maid of the Soil for the wreath and initials - and they are the first and secondary colours. The little bit of grey is WDW Dolphin - probably my favorite WDW.... or at least in the top ten. I also changed the crown a bit to get some grey in there. i am going to hold off on the date until it comes back home.

I started on Carol's piece and got one medallion finished
- here is a snap -

I will probably get this finished up in the next day or so and then have it out to Rowyn next Tuesday. The is is on the the LHN RR - I have the design all picked out and the floss gathered up it is just the stitching to get done. Then this will also get sent to Rowyn as she very graciously offered Cheryl her stitching prowess to finish out the last square. So Rowyn will be getting three things in the next few weeks from me....

Here are today's Chihuly snaps....

This is a snap of the chandelier room pieces - so that you can get and idea of how large these pieces are I have included some other patrons in the picture....

It is hard to tell what this is...
it is a snap looking directly up under the green chandelier in the previous picture
- isn't it just the most bazaar looking thing??

Thank you all for the nice comments in yesterday's post
- I really appreciate them!!!

and

Once again I thank you for stopping by!!!

Re-Stitching, recieving and some more glass

Last night I started to work on the re-stitch for the QFRR - I don't know why (or maybe I do) but I think I was avoiding doing this for a while
- here is a snap -

I'll finish this up tonight and get at Carol's and have them out on Thursday - or at least that's the plan right now. I am really liking the silk - Raisin Wine from HDF - and the re-stitch linen is LL Vintage Lentil.

I know that my Needle roll was received by Britt from the HOE. I really like BBD and so I used part of the mystery pattern from the recent Loose Feathers to create the needle roll
- Here is a snap of the exchange -

I like this so much that I want to do one for myself!!

Here are today's snaps of the Chihuly Glass exhibit -

These are called "Reeds" and the tallest in the back stand well over 10+ feet tall

This is a display from the "Basket" series -
these are based on traditionally Native American baskets.

A long shot of the "Glass Garden" which just blows me away it is so spectacular!

Thanks for stopping by!!

A kind-a busy weekend -

The weekend started off with Rico picking me up after work and going over to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park to see the Chihuly Exhibition of glass.

Now, I am am not a fan of modern anything (as you well know) but there are some things that really get my attention and his magnificent glass is just that something!!!!! I have seen his work in lots of cities and this exhibit was just spectacular!!!!!
- here are some snaps -

I took a ton of photos and will post them through the week. If you ever get the chance to see any of his work you should really try and see it. Just a magnificent vision and the colours are just stupendous!! We went on Friday afternoon as the crowds were nonexistent and we were going back on Sunday with some friends and knew it would be much more difficult to see everything with the press of people that attend on the weekend.

Saturday we started off with breakfast at Eddies - so good - and then we ran a ton of errands.

Sunday also started off with breakfast out but this time we chose a place in our neighborhood called Toast - a new place and always so crowded - but really good. Then is was off to the Museum to meet up with Nick and Kathleen and his parents to see Chihuly again - this time the experience was way different - as there were about 10,00 people there with the same idea - and we got there when they opened - I guess it is the weekend and the show is closing in 3 weeks that made so many of us have the same idea.

I worked on three things stitchy this weekend - two exchanges and VoHRH
- here is a snap of where Village is now -

I finished off Opal's square and then moved on to square 7 and panicked that I had cut linen too small for this to fit so I had to do part of the border for square 10 just so I wouldn't worry through squares 7,8 & 9 wondering if my fabric was too small
- now isn't that just me being really nuts!!!!

I also want you all to see the blooming cactus - it is really gorgeous -

I have not forgotten you that wanted cuttings - as soon as it stops blooming in the next week or so I will send them out - I read that if I had tried to do anything with it that all the blooms would have dropped and I didn't want that to happen.

I haven't talked about a movie in a long time and I saw a really good on this weekend - called "Atonement" - 2007 - what a super film - I can't recommend this highly enough!!! It jumps around a bit but is really worth it!! Saying all this - I also wanted to add that I am not a Keira Knightley fan - but in this she is just superb!!

I think that is enough for today!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

take care,
edgar
